Quimsa tomó la punta con una victoria de pelos en Junín

What a Friday. Three arenas, three away teams celebrating, and a table that now has QuimsaIPT in front. The Santiago team beat Argentino in Junín 78-76 and took the lead in the National League. Tight game, tight margin, and a lead that could have slipped away in the final seconds.

QuimsaIPT won on the road and took the lead

Argentino led 23-20 at the end of the first quarter, but QuimsaIPT turned the game around before halftime and went into the locker room ahead 46-38. Dylan Smith was the home side's main reference, with 26 points, but the hosts kept pushing until the final buzzer. Nicolás Copello led QuimsaIPT with 21 points and became the figure of the victory. The final was decided by just two points. For a team that entered Friday's game with high expectations, winning in Junín is worth celebrating.

Boca and Atenas also won away from home

Boca Juniors also had to work for it. The xeneize team led 44-43 at halftime against Racing de Chivilcoy, then pulled away in the second half to win 80-72. Agustín Barreiro was the top scorer with 17 points, while Francisco Cáffaro added 10. Chiarini and Romano scored 20 and 19 for the home team, but that was not enough. On the road, Boca showed character and added another victory to its campaign.

Atenas had a different script in Córdoba. The Greek team fell behind by nine points in the second quarter and struggled in the first half. Juan Brussino led the visiting offense with 22 points, and Lanús kept the game competitive. The return of Santiago Ferreyra and Tomás Cavallero from injuries gave Athens more rotation and helped wear down the visitors. Daniel Laster was the local standout with 21 points, while Facundo Vázquez's three-pointers in the final quarter defined the game. The final score was 80-69 and the victory extended the team's winning streak to three games.

  • QuimsaIPT: 78-76 against Argentino in Junín.
  • Boca Juniors: 80-72 against Racing de Chivilcoy.
  • Atenas: 80-69 against Lanús in Córdoba.
  • The Friday slate ended with three away victories and QuimsaIPT leading the standings.

The question now is whether Argentino can reverse its negative home run and return to the upper positions. QuimsaIPT gave the best show of the night in Junín, with a victory that was difficult and a performance worthy of the top spot. The rest of the table will have to keep an eye on the Santiago team. Basketball is like that: one night changes the order, and the next game can change it again. QuimsaIPT leads the National League table after Friday's victories: 78-76 against Argentino, 80-72 Boca against Racing and 80-69 Atenas against Lanús.
